John Byng INGLIS Service Record

John's Service Record

There are two record's of John's Service at the National Archive :-

Reference: ADM 196/78/317

ADM 196/78 - Accountant, Medical and Navigating Branches' officers:

Description:-
Name Inglis, John B
Date of Birth: 11 May 1844
Rank: Clerk
Date of Appointment: 13 March 1861

and Reference: ADM 196/78/915

ADM 196/11 - Paymasters. Indexed. Dates of entry: 1801-1877

Name Inglis, John Byng. Rank: Assistant Paymaster. Date of Appointment: 14 March 1861.

Note these are both handwritten and ADM 196/78/317 in particular is quite difficult to read
on this basis I will try and condense the two records into one and base it on ADM 196/78/915.

Both records seem to refer to his health 7 Sept 67
Not sure if this could be connected with him leaving the service
Seems strange that he would leave service when he was well on his way
to a pension??!!

There is quite a bit more on the records but it is almost unreadable - hopefully
of it.
