Stage 1 Demolish the Chimney First thing was the chimney had to go - only problem was the satellite dish and aeriel were on it!!!! So we had no TV for a while - an absolute disaster in our house.

Stage 2 Demolish the Garage The next thing to go was the garage - which did not need much persuasion as it was about to fall down anyway full of cracks to the point that I was too nervous to open the front door!!!!

Stage 3 In comes the "Heavy" Plant!!! Next came the excavation phase - this involved bringing in the heavies!!! - well perhaps not that heavy - but it did move the excavations on and cleared out the area and dug the footings - it was amazing just how sandy the "soil" was and the water table was not that far down and meant that the footing where the garage was had to be a bit wider as they could not go down that far.

Stage 4 Its not all happening outside!!! Out with the old and in with the new!!!! Whilst all the major works were going on outside there were other things being carried out inside - the most major of these being the switch over of the boiler from the old floor mounted boiler to a new condensing boiler on the wall This will give us space to get the washing machine and the tumble drier in which used to be in the back of the garage.

Stage 5 The Footings So this is where the walls will go!!!!! Getting serious - although none of this will be seen when we are finished it is very important to get this right as evrything stands on this bit - as you can see we do not have soil - we have sand!!!!
